I'm putting together a Nizo FAQ to include in the imminent (and long over due) overhaul and update of my website www.merzbarn.com and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what would need to be covered.
Obviously the main body of it will be based on the dozens of emails I've had over the last year but is there any info regarding Nizo cameras you've found hard to come by?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

i dont know if this is relevant: but i just bought an S800, and the image in the viewfinder has a slightly yellow caste, compared with what i see with my own eyes or through my canon 1014e. maybe not worth a place in a FAQ, but if anyone can explain how and why, i'd be grateful.

Your website is quite nice.
If you have other cameras in stock, that are not in pristine condition, maybe you should post those.
And...
maybe post a currency conversion, and what the typical cost is for shipping to international countries like the U.S.

Here's something that I discovered, much to my surprise:
The Nizo 6080 and Nizo 6056 are NOT identical other than the lens.
I have opened both mine up, and the circuit boards are slightly different.
This would be no big deal, but my 6056 has a crystal sync mod that I want to switch over to my 6080, but I don't know where to connect the wires to the 6080!!!!!
Does anyone know a really brilliant Nizo Tech?
Georg Graf has retired, unfortunately. He was a master! He was a cinematographer for the Nazi party in WWII.
Interesting guy. My dad probably took a couple shots at him when he fought in the war, and here I am 50+ years later getting my camera fixed by him!

I bought a great 801 macro from him too, and I've always told anyone interested in nizos or impressed by mine that his service and prices are pretty damn good (and rare-see Lees cameras).
Alex- his site is Merzbarn.com, P.s. sorry I did'nt get around to visiting you while I was in the LA area, but I was at the end of my holiday, thanks for offering the possibility.
Guy- I'm glad to see you decided to get an account at this site, Its the best I've ever found thats specifically for super8.

Thanks for the replies. Its taken me a while to post this message as I forgot my password and so I had to get around to re-registering.
I am familar with the yellow hue in the viewfinder that redrice mentions above. I've seen it once or twice myself and put it down to (I could be very wrong here) a discolouration of the cement used to affix elements within the viewfinder together. This sometimes has tiny air bubbles in it that is easily mistaken for dust in the lens. Whatever it is it seems to be isolated to the viewfinder as when looking through the gate or when viewing shot footage the image is clear.
Matt, your 6056 may be a slightly later build to your 6080 or vice-versa. As far as I know Nizo cameras, like many other cameras manufactuered over a reasonable period of time, were subject to modifications and adjustments as production continued.
The guy I use in the UK could tell you at a glance what the exact nature of the differences are. Email me if you want his details.
Thanks for all the nice stuff said about the site. As ever, if there's anything you think I may be able to help with, drop me a line.

Tell us about your Super-8 travels and travails....
I think I bought a camera from you on e-bay a year ago.

Its a small world. I had to laugh reading the "SUPER8-SOD" post Chas_UCLA wrote. I chanced on
the same store in LA myself while on holiday there a couple of summers back. I also found Action Camera
and Adolph Gasser's in SF and met a 70 year old German tourist shooting with his Nizo Pro at
that mansion in Death Valley (Hearst's castle?... or something) I was really keen to find out as much about the
US Super 8 scene as possible, I probably should have researched a bit more in advance like Alex_G or Giles Musitano.
I'm not sure about the travails, no real moans other than unsuccessfully trying to come up with something - a gadget or invention of some kind that could breathe even more life back into Super 8 filmaking. Like Moviestuff's transfer projectors or Super8sounds filmstocks (always a controversial subject but you have to admire their balls just for investing so much time
and money into the medium) Incidentally, I haven't read much about Simplycine recently, last I heard they had secured a grant to go ahead with a sound-striping re-canning project on a fairly large scale. Anyone in touch with them?
